The creation of training programs for the unemployed in the security personnel sector and the conditions for the participation of companies in the sector in public tenders were the main issues discussed in the meeting that the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Kostis Hatzidakis had today with the president of GSEE Giannis Panagopoulos, the presidency of the Federation of Security Employees of Greece (OMYPAE) and representatives of large private security companies.
As Mr. Hatzidakis noted, the preparations for the announcement of training and certification programs for the unemployed in the field of security personnel, in collaboration with OAED, are at an advanced stage. During the meeting it was stressed that there are conditions for rapid absorption of the trained, as there is a high demand for security services. The programs will “run” in the first months of 2022, will involve about 10,000 people and will be funded by the Recovery Fund and the new NSRF.
The issue of ensuring the observance of fair conditions during the participation of private security companies in the relevant tenders of public bodies, in terms of respect for the rights of employees was also discussed in detail. It was agreed to look for ways to ensure compliance with labor law in practice and prevent the distortion of competition.
The meeting was attended by – in addition to Mr. Hatzidakis – the General Secretary of Labor Anna Stratinaki, the President of GSEE Giannis Panagopoulos, the member of the Management of GSEE Vangelis Pallis, the President and the General Secretary of OMYPAE Mr. Dimitris Vassileiou and Giannis Giannarakis and representatives of ESA Security, ICTS, BRINKS and G4S.
