Έ. Ahtsioglou: Mr. Mitsotakis’s intervention in ENFIA mainly concerns large real estate

The view that “even in this period, when the popular households are affected by a generalized crisis of accuracy, Mr. Mitsotakis’s intervention in ENFIA mainly concerns the large real estates” is expressed in a statement by the Head of Finance of SYRIZA-PS Efi Ahtsioglou .

Specifically, E. Ahtsioglou emphasizes that “the dominant element of his announcements is the substantial abolition of the additional tax for large properties” and comments that “once again ND makes a unilateral choice that favors higher incomes”.

In addition, he notes that “the announcements do not change what applies to low-income properties up to 60,000 euros”, noting that “the financial footprint of the effective abolition of the additional tax amounts to 360 million, ie the total footprint of intervention in ENFIA”. “Even if the intervention is not limited to the additional tax, it is obvious that the lion’s share concerns him, that is, the maximum income,” he adds.

The Head of Finance of SYRIZA-PS claims that “in order to blur the image, the government of Mr. Mitsotakis makes comparisons with 2018 and appropriates the reduction in ENFIA that the government of SYRIZA made in 2019”. “Only then did the reduction mainly concern low-income properties and Mr. Mitsotakis’s government reversed it in order to favor the larger real estate properties again,” he underlines.

“The government’s announcements are not alleviating, they are just trying to mitigate the burden on property taxation from the sharp rise in fair values. The cost of living for the low and middle incomes is rising unbearably day by day,” he said.

“For the government of ND there are budgetary margins when it comes to large fortunes, but they do not exist for the needs of popular households.”
