UK Secretary of State Liz Tras says there is “very, very strong evidence” that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a “war criminal”.
US President Joe Biden described Russian leader Vladimir Putin as such in a move that could escalate diplomatic tensions even further.
Asked about the comment on BBC Radio 4, Trash said she did not think it was a mistake to say: “There is very, very strong evidence that it is,” she said.
“There is very, very strong evidence that war crimes have been committed and that Vladimir Putin is behind them.”
He says: “It is ultimately a matter for the International Criminal Court to decide who is and who is not a war criminal and for us to bring the evidence and the best thing we can do right now, what we are doing.”
He says the UK is “gathering this information on the ground to make sure that Vladimir Putin is held accountable for these crimes”.
