The overdue main pensions in NAT were zeroed, according to an announcement by the Ministry. Working. This positive development, together with the planning for the final elimination of both pending auxiliary and lump sums, was presented to the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis, by the president of NAT, Konstantinos Tsagaropoulos, during his visit to the Naval Reserve.
NAT was previously included in the most troubled Funds with the longest delays in awarding pensions. The outstanding main pensions in February 2021 amounted to 3,100, while today the settlement of only 12 overdue main pensions is pending. In addition, NAT employees have been able to issue new pensions within 90 days, without them becoming overdue.
In order to achieve the above objectives, a network of actions was launched and implemented in the last 12 months at administrative, organizational, digital and logistical level. Specifically:
1) Legislative interventions simplified the award process for individual categories of insured where their pensions were pending for years. The example of the 444 widows of sailors is typical, where they waited – some of them even for 6 years – for their final pension. The problem was finally solved.
2) There was a redeployment of human resources and a better division of labor among employees. Specifically, the pension departments were strengthened with additional people, 20 people were employed through subsidized work from the OAED 55-67 program, who were hired with specific requirements of previous service-experience, while an internal helpdesk was set up by 12 NAT employees to help in processing work, telephone communication with insured persons, and even obtaining supporting documents from the door of their house.
3) There has been a significant upgrade of computer equipment and software. 35% of hardware and obsolete software was immediately replaced (Windows 98), and 50% upgraded. The remaining 15% are eight years old so it was considered sufficient.
4) The “problematic” files were identified through field research and procedures and ways of solving the problems were analyzed. At the same time, controls that did not have a significant impact were abolished, while a control procedure was followed at the same time as the processing of the file.
5) A “mini Control Tower” was developed within NAT to monitor, in a continuous flow, the productivity per management, department and employee.
6) NAT interconnection projects with other public bodies were implemented. NAT has given access to all the relevant bodies. The acceleration brought about by the interconnection with the Maritime Registry Service of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy is remarkable.
7) Productivity premium was established for the first time for efficient employees. Two-thirds of the employees participated in this, at their own request.
Now all the weight is put on the final elimination of the stock of outstanding auxiliaries that currently amount to 831 but also the lump sums that currently amount to 345. The goal of the NAT Management is that all outstanding issues have been cleared by the end of September.
In addition, by the end of May, NAT will join the Bodies covered by the single service number 1555.
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Kostis Hatzidakis said: “NAT is leaving behind the ‘mountain’ of outstanding main pensions and aims to eliminate the outstanding auxiliary and lump sums by the end of September. The progress made is impressive. From 3,100 outstanding main pensions 2021 are currently pending only 12 overdue, which will also be given in the near future, thanks to better utilization and mobilization of human resources, the interoperability of NAT systems with those of the Ministry of Shipping, the best internal “organization but also the control of the efficiency of those involved in the award process. With organization, goal setting and perseverance even those battles that until yesterday were considered lost today are won”.
The President of NAT Konstantinos Tsagaropoulos He said: “We are not here today to celebrate the success of the obvious. , selfless and systematic effort of the employees, the executives and the political leadership in any public organization, can bring quick, concrete and tangible results for the benefit of the society and the citizens. You have given the mandate and directions for quick results. NAT must act as a lever for the development of the navy. But first it must regain the trust of the insured and their families. We started from the obvious. , the facility of the insured.Today we are ready for the next step.NAT should be the springboard for the evolution of the Greek navy into a modern competitive machine for the production of social wealth. Everything that happened in one year is not a magic solution. It’s the self-evident political will. ”
