10 things I wish I had been taught in school

Things that scare me about adult life

5. Failure is normal
With the school comes the first personal satisfactions but at the same time we also face the first failures and the first disappointments. The world seems to collapse on us for every little thing that doesn’t go our way. Spoiler: in life it will happen more and more often, so better take it philosophically and know that failure will always teach us something anyway.

6. Don’t do something to meet other people’s expectations
Probably the most important lesson to keep in mind. A little healthy selfishness doesn’t harm your health, especially if our future is at stake. Only we can know what we really like: the opinions of people who love us are important but they don’t have to be binding.

7. Time spent with the family is precious
Only when I left home to start university did I realize how much I missed my family and how much I had taken it for granted during the years he was close to me.

8. It takes patience
It takes patience both to face five years of high school and to get what we want.
Although things can change quickly, it also takes time to build something and see concrete results.

9. There is more to life
I was so focused on studying and not disappointing the expectations that others had of me that I didn’t realize that there were so many things to do, including hobbies and activities. It was just when I started investing time outside of my normalcy that I really understood what I wanted to do and what I liked.

10. Things can change overnight
One day you are in the high school of a quiet provincial village, the next month you are in a place you don’t know, after a few years you may find yourself in the city you thought you loved only to discover that what you really wanted was there, close to you. Everything can change, regardless of the choices we make.
