A 10-year-old boy jumped into the pool to save his younger brother from drowning in Guaratinguetá, in the interior of São Paulo.
The case took place on Christmas Eve (24) and the video, captured by the security camera, which shows the exact moment of the fall, went viral on social networks. On TikTok alone, the publication has already reached more than 16 million views and more than one million likes.
The images show the boy Gabriel jumping into the pool at the moment he sees his brother Marcos, three years old, being thrown by his twin brother Matheus while the trio played around the place.
Once in the water, Gabriel takes Marcos to the edge of the pool and hands him over to an adult. The attitude and courage of the older brother drew attention and made the video go viral on the internet.
The boys’ father, Rafael Cabral, was the one who shared the images. He says the family was spending Christmas Eve at a relative’s house when it all happened.
A resident of Lorena, a neighboring town, Rafael recalls that the action was very quick and, even before the adults managed to take any action, the boy had already jumped.

The country is second in the world ranking of swimming pools, behind only the United States. The data also reveals that every three days, a child drowns in their home.
The main victims are between 1 and 4 years old, making drowning the second cause of death in this age group. At least 45% of deaths occur in the summer.
