The 10-year-old girl, who died after falling ill at a school in Paraná, had arrived at school safely on the morning of her death, according to police.
Alyce Tesluki died on Wednesday afternoon (18) after vomiting and complaining of nausea and headache. She studied at the Erasmo Pilotto Municipal School, in Rebouças, in the central region of the state.
The Civil Police of Paraná reported that, after arriving safely at school in the morning, at 12:55 p.m., she went to the bathroom feeling unwell. At this time, a friend reported the situation to the teachers.
The municipal Civil Defense reported that the agents were called by an employee at 1:17 pm and arrived at the scene at 1:19 pm.
After providing first aid, the team took the child to the Dona Darcy Vargas Charity Hospital.
In a statement, the hospital unit stated that the girl presented a possible convulsive condition and was already in PCR (cardiorespiratory arrest) at school. See the note below in full.
“The Dona Darcy Vargas Charity Hospital provides the following clarifications regarding the situation that occurred with the child on the premises of the Erasmo Pilotto Municipal School who died on 09/16/24. On the aforementioned date, members of the Civil Defense of the municipality were called by teachers from the school in question reporting that the child had complained of severe headaches, nausea, vomiting and a possible convulsive condition.
Upon arriving at the scene, they reported that the minor was unresponsive, had no reflexes or vital signs, possibly in CPR (cardiorespiratory arrest), and was then taken to the Dona Darcy Vargas Charity Hospital. Upon arriving at this institution, she was promptly attended to by the clinical staff, who confirmed that the minor was in CPR, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers were immediately initiated.
However, unfortunately the situation was not reversed, and the death was confirmed. After the death was confirmed, all applicable legal measures were taken to better clarify the case.”
Investigation
Investigators confirmed that Alyce arrived at the hospital already dead.
Erasmo Pilotto School mourned the student’s death on social media. “Our dear Alyce…our angel has gone to live with God.”
The Civil Police reported that they are investigating the case and have already interviewed people who had direct contact with the child: relatives, school professionals and health agents who provided care.
The police department stressed that, to date, no pre-existing illness has been confirmed for Alyce. The police are awaiting the expert report and the coroner’s analysis to determine the cause of death.
