Amid the heat wave and low humidity, 100 Brazilian cities have been without rain for at least three months, according to data from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) raised at the request of the CNN . Almost half of the municipalities have been experiencing dry weather for more than five months. Pompeu, in Minas Gerais, tops the list with 168 days without rain.
Twelve states have cities with more than 100 days without rain. Minas Gerais has almost 40% of the cities that have not recorded rainfall for the longest time, followed by Goias (20%), Mato Grosso (11%), Tocantins (11%) and Bahia (7%).
Five capitals are on the list: Belo Horizonte (MG), BrasÃlia (DF), Goânia (GO), Cuiabá (MT) and Palmas (TO).

Weather and dry weather forecast
Until next Monday (23), most of Brazil should face hot and dry weather, according to Inmet. The region North East there is no forecast of rain, just like the Midwest, except in the south of Mato Grosso do Sul, where isolated rain showers may occur.

In the region North rain may only appear in the northwest of Amazonas and Pará. In Southeast the forecast is for hot and dry weather for the next few days.
The states in the South region are expected to receive heavy rainfall, especially from Rio Grande do Sul due to the passage of a frontal system.
