The president of the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Edson Fachin, spoke this Thursday (23) at the opening of the plenary session of the TSE, which highlighted the 100 days until the presidential elections in Brazil. According to the minister, “the Electoral Justice is ready and fully prepared to carry out transparent, clean and safe elections, as it has done for 90 years”.
“I also ask permission to clarify something that may seem obvious: the Electoral Justice is not made only by its leaders. On the contrary: the integrity of the Brazilian elections is assured by an attentive and qualified technical staff”, reinforced the minister.
Fachin also cited a series of security measures, described by him as “improvements and improvements” in the electoral system, such as the increase from 100 to 600 polls audited in the Integrity Test; the possibility for political parties to nominate ballot boxes for the test; implementation of a pilot project for external access to the source code of electoral systems by the Federal Police, the Federal University of Pernambuco and the University of Campinas and an increase from 3% to up to 6% in the number of ballot boxes subject to auditing.
“The role of the Electoral Justice is to guarantee that the will of the people, demonstrated in each vote typed in the ballot box, is respected”, reaffirmed the minister in a speech.
