100% in 15 minutes: OPPO showed 150-watt SuperVOOC charging

On Monday, February 28, the annual international exhibition of mobile electronics MWC 2022 started in Barcelona. This year’s conference also included the Chinese company OPPO, which brought its new fast charging technology with it to Spain.

A new generation of OPPO’s proprietary SuperVOOC technology delivers 150W fast charging. According to the results of laboratory studies, it turned out that thanks to the new charger, a smartphone with a 4,500 mAh rechargeable battery can be charged from 1% to 50% in just 5 minutes, and a full charge takes no more than 15 minutes. In comparison, 65-watt technology takes about 40 minutes to fully charge such a battery.

The new OPPO charger is made using GaN technology, thanks to which it has a rather compact size – 58 × 57 × 30 mm, and weighs 172 g. This is not much more than the old 65-watt OPPO SuperVOOC adapter.

The first device to support the new 150W SuperVOOC charging will be the OnePlus smartphone, which will hit the market in the second quarter of 2022. It should be recalled here that since last year, the OnePlus brand has come under the wing of OPPO.

By the way, OPPO does not intend to stop at what has been achieved and is already working on even more modern and high-speed technologies that will provide over 200 W charging power. The company already has a working prototype of a 240-watt fast charging system that allows you to charge a smartphone with a 4,500 mAh battery up to 100% in just 9 minutes.
