A new Guinness World Record was set on Saturday when a dragon boat measuring a total length of 100,987 meters in the central Chinese city of Yiyang was officially recognized as the world’s “longest dragon boat”. .

The double-oared dragon boat, made by residents of Beian New Village, has a total of 105 compartments and can accommodate up to 420 oarsmen.
“This dragon boat measures 100.987 meters in length, surpassing the current record and successfully meeting the challenge,” said Xiong Wen, a Guinness World Record official.
Manufactured by local shipbuilders, the dragon boat is made from Chinese spruce logs, each with a diameter ranging from 50 to 60 centimeters and a length of approximately 28 meters.
The construction involved eight stages and took more than two months to complete. The dragon boat was unveiled on the river on June 12, 2023 in a ceremony.
