The authority of the Panama Canal reiterated on Tuesday (28) that the agency is Panamanha, in a letter addressed to its more than 8.5 thousand employees.
“At times like this, we should remember who we are and what we represent: a 100% Panamania institution that operates excellence thanks to its human talent,” says the letter signed by Ricaurte Vásquez Morales, channel administrator. “Let us continue working together with the same dedication that characterizes us, demonstrating to the world our commitment to Panama and global trade.”
President Donald Trump suggested that the United States resume control of the Panama Canal, which was transferred to the Panamanian government in 1999 after the signing of an agreement between the two countries in 1977.
Trump did not even rule out the use of the Armed Forces to resume control of the waterway and suggested that there is “Chinese interference” on the Panama Canal, a statement that was rejected by both Panama President José Raúl Mulino, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs China.
