The head of the Ministry of Digital Science Maksut Shadayev said that the Russians, who are faced with the threat of disconnecting the Internet, will be provided with conditions no worse than the previous ones.

Yesterday it became known that operators of fixed wireless Internet access will have to turn off their networks on March 11 due to the expiration of the permission of the State Commission on Radio Frequencies to use frequencies in the 3.4-3.6 GHz range.

About 100,000 Russians use these frequencies to access the Internet. According to Maksut Shadayev, the Ministry of Digital Science will not allow Russians to be left without Internet access even for a short time. Disconnection of users will occur only if there is an alternative method, which, according to the conditions, will not be worse than the current one.

The permission of the State Commission on Radio Frequencies for the use of frequencies in the range of 3.4-3.6 GHz was signed on March 10, 2011 for a period of 10 years, therefore, on March 11, they will expire. The Ministry of Digital Science claims that interruptions in communication can affect only “an extremely small” number of subscribers, and also that “Russian subscribers will not be left without a home Internet.”
