Walter Orthmann, Guinness Book record holder for having the longest career in the same company, turned 102 last Friday (19) and received a surprise party from his co-workers, in Brusque, municipality of Santa Catarina.
Sales manager for 86 years at Renaux View, Walter was honored at his home by his colleagues. According to his daughter, Sabrina Orthmann, the celebration took place at the residence because, at the moment, Walter is not in a position to go to the company.
According to Roberto Sander, one of his colleagues, the record holder took a leave of absence from his weaving activities in February due to vision problems.
Sander further stated that Walter’s record-breaking achievement each year serves as a testament to his “unwavering commitment and love for the craft.”
In 2018, Walter surpassed the record mark, until then, of 80 years in a company, which had belonged, since 2012, to the American Thomas Stoddard.
In a note, Renaux View states that the sales manager began his journey with the company on January 17, 1938, at the age of 15, when he joined as a packaging assistant.
“It was an opportunity for all your colleagues to express their affection and recognition for your significant contribution not only to the company, but also to the lives of each of them”, stated the corporation about the party.
