A total of 107 migrants who were in danger at sea while trying to reach British shores were rescued by French authorities on Christmas Day, according to the Channel and North Sea Port Authority. The operations were “intense” and as far as is known there were no “victims”, a representative of the authorities assured AFP. Due to favorable weather conditions there were “many departures of migrant boats” on Wednesday along the northern coast of France, from Dieppe to Lefrincouq, near Dunkirk (north), the authorities explained. A total of 12 relief and rescue operations were carried out yesterday, in coordination with the Gray Nez regional surveillance and rescue centre.
