A total of 12 Brazilian restaurants are among the thousand best in the world in this year. Among those classified, nine addresses are in São Paulo and three in Rio de Janeiro. That’s what the The List 2024 a French ranking that assigns scores from zero to 100 to establishments based on hundreds of guides, publications and customer reviews from 200 countries.
The best placed restaurant in South America and Brazil is The Pig House located in the center of São Paulo and managed by Janaína Torres Rueda, elected the best chef in Latin America by Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants this year, and Jefferson Rueda . The restaurant received 97.50 points, the same score given to the restaurants Belcanto, in Portugal, and Geranium, in Denmark, for example.
Then comes the Maní in São Paulo, from Helena Rizzo , which received 97 points. Completing the podium is the Lasai in Rio de Janeiro, led by chef Rafa Costa e Silva which garnered 96 points.
Among the top five best-placed Brazilians, there is also a São Paulo native SUN in Alex Atala with 95 points, and the carioca Oteque in Alberto Landgraf with 94 points.

Promising Brazilian chef

The Brazilian chef Tássia Magalhães which commands the Italian Nelita an Italian restaurant with signature cuisine that also appears among the best rated on the list, was honored as one of the new talents of the year.
Born in Guaratinguetá, in the Vale do Paraíba region, the young chef graduated from the Hotel Escola Senac in Campos do Jordão at just 19 years old and established her place in renowned national and international restaurants.
In addition to Nelita, she now commands the Mag Market a 100% artisanal production house with French-inspired sweets and breads and the use of Brazilian ingredients, as well as maintaining the Riso.e.ria a brand that once had a fixed location and is currently focused only on events whose main ingredient is rice in its various forms and variations.
The special La Liste 2024 award, which celebrates the most promising chefs of the year, was awarded in an in-person ceremony on Monday night (20) in Paris, France.
First placed
Seven restaurants around the world received 99.50 points in the ranking, the maximum score given to restaurants this year.
The one who appears at the top is the Le Bernardin , a restaurant in New York focused on fish and seafood led by French chef Éric Ripert. The house had already appeared as one of the best in the world last year in the same ranking.
Among the best restaurants in the world from La Liste 2024 with a score of 99.50, the following also appear: L’Enclume – Simon Rogan (United Kingdom); Guy Savoy (France); La Vague D’or – Le Cheval Blanc (France); Schwarzwaldstube (Germany); Lung King Heen (Hong Kong) and Sushi Saito (Japan).
