12 Grammys, 7 Billboards and more: see Tina Turner’s awards

Owner of a powerful and unique voice, singer Tina Turner made history in international music and accumulated awards of great relevance in the segment. With nearly 200 million records sold and 12 Grammys, she was one of the most successful female singers of all time.

Turner began her career in the 1950s as part of the duo Ike & Tina Turner, but despite her success, it was in her solo career that the singer achieved true stardom.

Their first album was released in 1984 and called Private Dancer. The success was immense and with the hit What’s Love Got to Do with It, it earned Turner four Grammy Awards.

Soon after, she began collaborating with renowned artists and wowed crowds with her electrifying performances.

In January 1988, Turner was in Brazil with the tour of the album “Break every rule”. It brought together 184,000 people in a single performance at Maracanã, in addition to being broadcast live around the world. The attendance was so great that the singer obtained a Guinness record “for the largest paid participation in a rock concert by a solo artist”, which was maintained until 1997.

In the early 90s, he released the song “The best”, the theme of some athletes. One of them was Ayrton Senna, who took the stage alongside Tina at a show in Australia in 1993.

In 2008, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Grammy Awards, the queen of rock n’ roll gave a historic performance. In addition to singing her greatest hits, Turner dueted “Proud Mary” alongside Beyoncé.
