Redmi today finally officially unveiled its flagship smartphone Redmi K40. This is the base model of the series, which, alas, did not get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 single-chip system – instead of it, the Snapdragon 870 is used. However, in terms of performance, the Snapdragon 870 is not far behind the Snapdragon 888 (690 thousand points in AnTuTu versus 750 thousand points for the Snapdragon 888).

The pride of Redmi and perhaps the main feature of the Redmi K40 is the Samsung Super AMOLED screen of the latest generation E4 – the same generation includes the screens of Xiaomi Mi 11 and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. But the difference is that the displays in Samsung and Xiaomi smartphones are curved, while the Redmi K40 uses a flat screen. The front camera is embedded, but its diameter is only 2.76 mm – the minimum size at the moment.

The frame rate of the screen (its diagonal is 6.67 inches) is 120 Hz, the polling rate of the sensor layer is 360 Hz. So the model will appeal to both ordinary users and fans of computer games. The developers also provided an additional sensor that regulates the color temperature in the range from 4500K to 7800K in automatic mode. A similar technology is used in the iPhone.

Redmi K40 turned out to be quite thin (7.8 mm) and light (196 grams), and its battery capacity was 4520 mAh. Fast charging is supported – with a power of 33 W, and Redmi assures that Redmi K40 charges faster than other models with a battery of similar capacity, but with support for faster charging. And there is no support for wireless charging in the Redmi K40.

The main camera of Redmi K40 is represented by sensors with a resolution of 48, 5 and 8 megapixels. There is no optical zoom, but the smartphone succeeds in taking good pictures in macro mode.

The model also includes a Wi-Fi 6 adapter, UFS 3.1 and LPDDR5 memory, stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support, NFC module, IR emitter and splash protection (in accordance with the degree of IP53).
