A 13-year-old teenager is being investigated by the Civil Police on suspicion of involvement in the death of 8-year-old girl Lana Araújo.
Lana’s body was found on Wednesday (20) inside a well, in the Grajaú neighborhood, south of São Paulo.
The girl had been missing since Wednesday (13). The teenager, the victim’s neighbor, was with her minutes before she disappeared, according to the police report. A security camera recorded the two walking side by side down a street in the neighborhood.
According to delegate Alessandro Amorim, during the statements, the teenager presented four different versions of the story. Given the contradictions, the police chief informed that the teenager is the main suspect in the death of the girl Lana.

A CNN had access to the recordings that captured the moment the teenager was seen with the girl.
Lana was filmed leaving her home wearing a pink dress. A few seconds later, the neighbor appeared leaving her residence. The young man and the girl continue walking down the street until they are out of the camera’s recording field.
In another scene, half an hour later, the boy returns along the same street, but this time, unaccompanied. He meets his mother on the sidewalk and the two enter the residence where they live.
Before disappearing, the girl was at home with her 15-year-old brother. In a moment of their distraction, according to information from her father, Lana left the house, but did not return. Family members and neighbors searched the neighborhood overnight, but only contacted the police station 24 hours after her disappearance.
