The receipt 130 armor wheeled reconnaissance vehicles (TTOA-ASV) M1117 took place on 29 and 30 April in Thessaloniki. As announced by the General Staff of the Army (GS), the M1117 are provided to Greece through the US Excess Defense Articles (EDA) program.
The M1117 are used in reconnaissance and surveillance missions, significantly increasing the operational capabilities of the Army, due to their flexibility and enhanced armor.
The M1117s received at the end of April are added to the 44 received in December 2021.
The receipt of M1117 will continue and in the next period of time, as planned, is added to the announcement of the General Staff.
On the occasion of the arrival of 130 armored security vehicles in Greece, which are provided free of charge by USAoutgoing US Ambassador Jeffrey Payat notes, through his personal Twitter account, that “US-Greece defense alliance stronger than ever”.
Specifically, Mr. Payat states the following in the relevant post: “We are proud to see another 130 M1117 security armored vehicles being delivered to Greece, arriving in Thessaloniki. By the end of 2022, the US will supply Greece with a total of 1,200 ASVs, all free of charge, through the EDA program. “The US-Greece defense alliance is stronger than ever.”
