Connectivity and smart technology will radically transform the way we live within the next decade. This is what matters The Connected Consumer 2030 (CC2030), the report published by Vodafone.
And it’s not hard to believe it, after all who would have imagined even just a few years ago that we could have today control, set and regulate the main appliances present in the house only with the command of the voice?
Yet it is precisely what is happening and that it turns out to be a continuously growing trend. Washing machines that communicate with dryers to efficiently program washing and drying cycles, alarm systems that can be activated and deactivated – but also monitored when we are not at home – directly from the smartphone, robot vacuum cleaners which, thanks to artificial intelligence, they map the spaces to be cleaned and know exactly how to proceed without anyone having to intervene manually.
These are just a few examples of connected appliances, i.e. that connect to the wifi network in order to communicate with mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and notebooks and thus be able to be managed remotely, wherever you are.
In this context of continuous innovation, connectivity and ease of use go hand in hand more and more: right at the last CES in Las Vegas, the consumer electronics fair, was presented Samsung Home Huba new way of managing household appliances through a tablet-like touch device which offers improved connectivity for a variety of smart appliances and leverages AI and SmartThings to understand user needs and automatically deliver the right solutions. Not only do they simplify our life, therefore, but in some cases they are also able to anticipate our needs.
The numbers of connected household appliances
One in four Spanish households already own a smart home appliance, a trend that is catching on especially among younger users between the ages of 18 and 34 (32%): this is what emerges from a report on connected appliances carried out by Haier Europewhich is part of the Haier Smart Home group.
And even in Italy the numbers are similar and consumers strongly desire innovations that improve their life at home, but our compatriots, according to the data of one Whirlpool Corporation studio, they are attentive to the ability of household appliances to be connected, but also to improve efficiency (45%), to be sustainable from an environmental point of view (46%), to allow savings in money (28%) and time (19%).
It is therefore not just a “whim” to have the latest model of washing machine or a whim to be able to set the cleaning simply with a voice command – the voice assistants Google Home And Amazon Alexa are making great strides to make possible a future that, until a few years ago, we could only see in science fiction films – but of a real structural change in the way of managing the most common operations, to be not only in step with times, but also more efficient, practical and green.
