14-year-old sentenced to life in prison for killing 5-year-old boy in Wales

A 14-year-old boy and two adults were sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a five-year-old boy in Wales in July 2021. The body of Logan Mwangi was found by officers in the River Ogmore at around 6am on Saturday. , July 31, after an emergency call made by the boy’s mother, 31-year-old Angharad Williamson.

Williamson must serve at least 28 years in prison before the sentence can be reviewed. The other convicts are John Cole, 40, Mwangi’s stepfather, and Craig Mulligan, 14. They will have to stay behind bars for a minimum of 29 and 15 years, respectively, until the life sentence can be reviewed.

The case took place in Sarn, Bridgend County, Wales. The sentence was handed down in a court in Cardiff, the capital of the country.

The trial lasted 10 weeks, and the defendants are said to have tried to cover up the case by convincing officers that Logan had disappeared overnight. However, the authorities became suspicious and they were arrested. Evidence was collected by the Serious Crimes Investigation Team in the days that followed and they were charged with murder.

The autopsy performed on the boy’s body found that he suffered more than 56 injuries, described by a pathologist as “so extreme you would expect to find them as a result of a fall from a great height or a high-speed traffic collision,” according to with the South Wales Police.

Senior Investigative Officer, Detective Inspector Lianne Rees, of the South Wales Police Major Crimes Investigations Team, stated that it is “incomprehensible that Logan would have his life cut short in such tragic circumstances at the hands of the very people who should have been there for him.” protect him”.
