A 14-year-old teenager underwent a ten-hour surgery this week to remove a brain tumor. During the procedure, the young woman was filmed singing an evangelical song. The case occurred last Thursday (14) at the Nossa Senhora da Glória Children's State Hospital, in Vitória (ES).
Responsible for the surgery, doctor Walter Fagundes proposed that the procedure be carried out with the young woman awake. “Initially, she was scared, but she accepted it,” he said. The patient is teenager Isabely Amaral Faria, resident of the city of Serra, in the metropolitan region of Vitória.

“During the tumor resection, we had conversations with the teenager testing her speech and memory. She, an evangelical Christian, even sang the praise 'Perto de Ti' during the surgery. In the end, it was possible to remove the entire tumor”, stated the neurosurgeon.
According to the Espírito Santo Health Department, Isabely is admitted to a semi-intensive recovery bed and her condition is stable.
The folder informs that the young woman suffered from seizures and that, after medical investigation, the brain tumor was found, which was located between the areas of the brain responsible for speech, movements on the right side of the body and the memory area.
“Such location makes a possible surgery quite delicate and complex since even a slight understanding of these areas can cause significant damage to the patient's life,” said the neurosurgeon who coordinated the procedure.
