14 years after Oasis split: Liam Gallagher says Noel called him “begging for forgiveness” and wanting to find himself

British vocalist Liam Gallagher has taken Twitter by storm as he raises hopes (again) that he might reconcile with his brother, Noel, for an Oasis reunion.

In a publication earlier this Wednesday afternoon (18), the “Rock ‘N’ Roll Star” reported that he had just left a call with his younger brother.

In his signature mocking tone, Liam said Noel “begged for forgiveness” and asked them to meet. He asked his followers if they thought the meeting should take place.

The year 2023 will mark the 14th anniversary of when Noel Gallagher released a statement in August 2009 announcing “with some sadness and great relief” his departure from the group as he “simply could not continue working with Liam one more day”. .

Since then, speculations of an Oasis comeback have often come and gone. However, in recent days, which were also marked by the announcement that Noel is divorcing his wife after 12 years, new hopes have been planted.

This happened, for example, in an interview that Noel gave to BBC radio in Manchester, last Tuesday (17), in which he stated that “you should never say never” when asked about resuming the band – but that it would take “a extraordinary set of circumstances”.

The guitarist’s position was an advance compared to previous statements such as, for example, in October last year, when asked about a possible return, Noel replied: “Would you take a vacation with your ex-wife?”

He has also said on other occasions that he would rather “sing in the street” than return to Oasis, or that it would take £100m to put on a show.

On the other hand, Liam usually collaborates to increase speculation. Last Sunday (15), he posted on Twitter a series of songs that were seen as indirect for the current moment of the relationship with his brother. Among the songs, “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother”, by The Hollies, and “Two Of Us”, by The Beatles.

Very active on the social network, he also usually responds to fans who ask about Oasis. “Why not? F*ck everything else going on this year,” he told a follower who asked if the comeback will happen soon.

In 2020, at the initial height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Liam suggested that the band get together and play a show to allocate the proceeds to the British health system.

Specifically, Noel should release the next album from his solo project “Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds” in early June. Liam has already said on social media that he does not intend to return to a studio “any time soon”. He performed in São Paulo at the end of 2022, at Espaço Unimed.
