AEGEAN adds another new destination to its summer program, which now exceeds 140 destinations in 44 countries.
As just announced in the booking systems, from June, AEGEAN will operate with 2 weekly flights from Athens to Eindhoven Airport, increasing the destinations that the airline serves to and from the Netherlands.
In the Netherlands, AEGEAN has been operating to and from the Dutch capital and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport since 2016 on a daily basis throughout the year, with Eindhoven’s new destination originally scheduled for the summer, but it is estimated that will be maintained in the winter.
According to aviation market analysts, the city of Eindhoven, like other smaller cities around it, has in recent years a very active and large Greek community, mainly students, but also young executives in companies with dynamic branches of the Dutch economy.
Offer of 11 million seats during the summer season
It is noted that AEGEAN, this summer, will operate from 8 bases in Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Rhodes, Kalamata, Chania) and abroad (Paris, Larnaca) in more than 140 destinations in 44 countries, offering more than 11 million places in the summer season, reaching the high summer months, in number of flights the levels of 2019.
It is indicative that, at the end of March, ticket bookings were at high levels (80% – 83%) compared to the corresponding period of 2019 and in fact, in February and March the bookings were 4 times more than in the respective months of 2021.
The airline has already shown, since mid-February, cash flow break even, a development which took place in May last year.
The increase in bookings is also reflected in the flight work. The airline is gradually resuming its flights, which resulted in the first quarter being completed with a project reduction of 30% compared to 2019, however the second quarter is estimated to be reduced by almost 18% and the third, which peaks air traffic, by only 5%.
In particular, the airline is estimated to offer over 15 million seats throughout the year and will re-route 15 destinations from Athens, with the aim of the occupancy rate to move above 75%, from 65.5% in 2021.
