140 inches, Sony Micro OLED and 75g: TCL Nxtwear Air smart glasses unveiled

TCL unveiled its second smart glasses, TCL Nxtwear Air, at CES 2022, which is an improved version of the NxtWear G model unveiled last summer. The original glasses were not a virtual or augmented reality gadget. They acted as an external display for your smartphone or computer. It’s the same with the new model.

The name “Air” was not chosen by chance – the new model turned out to be much more compact and weighs only 75 g (versus 130 g), which makes them more convenient to use for a long time. TCL Nxtwear Air offers the equivalent of a 140 “display viewed from a distance of 4m. The virtual display has a 47 ° field of view. This is made possible by a pair of 1080p Micro OLED displays. The displays operate at 60Hz and support stereoscopic output.

In addition, the glasses come with two interchangeable lenses. And you don’t need to bring headphones with you as the glasses have two built-in speakers. Simply connect the glasses to a device that supports DisplayPort over USB-C.

You can use them as a personal portable monitor for work, a large display for streaming video, or (with an appropriate Bluetooth controller) for gaming. The glasses have an accelerometer and a gyroscope that records movements in three directions.
