Boat Carrying 1400 pounds of Cocaine Discovered in Pacific Island

A ghost boat carrying 1400 pounds of cocaine washed up on Pacific Island last week. The boat washed up on Marshal Island, a remote island in the Pacific.

The boat contained no passengers, other than around 1430 pounds of cocaine. The value of the substance is an estimated $80 million currently.

The boat was 5.5 meters in length and was noticed by local residents. After trying to move the boat, the residents realized it was too heavy. Upon inspection, the drug was found hidden in a compartment. Packed in one kg packets, the letters KW were found written on them.

What happened to the Cocaine?

According to the police, all the cocaine except two packs was incinerated. The two packs were sent to the US Drug enforcement agency for inspection.

Drugs washing ashore on islands near the Pacific ocean isn’t a new phenomenon. Most of the time these drugs are taken by the local residents and sold off, owing to their high monetary value. Some of the discovered drugs are also used by the residents, resulting in a higher number of cases with problems related to drug consumption on the island.

The officials estimate that the boat containing the drugs could have been on sea for a year or two and may have drifted from Latin America.
