Canon has announced a significant milestone – 150 million units shipped with RF and EF mounts.
According to the manufacturer, one of the RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM lenses made in January became the 150 millionth one. This model has been produced since November 2019, and in general, the release of interchangeable lenses for Canon EOS cameras began in 1987.

The first EF-mount lenses for Canon EOS SLRs were manufactured at Canon’s Utsunomiya plant in central Japan. The company now has four production bases in Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia. Canon’s 10 millionth EF lens was released in 1995, 50 million in 2009, and 100 million in 2014.
Canon introduced the EOS R System and RF mount lenses in 2018. There are currently 118 models in the RF and EF lens line-up.
