156 ‘no’ to SYRIZA’s motion of censure against the Government

By Niki Zorba

With 156 “no” was voted the motion of no confidence of SYRIZA against the Government after a three-day debate in the Parliament which took place in an atmosphere of extreme polarization, personal counterclaims and even “hot” episodes in the corridors and the lobby of the Parliament. The 142 deputies of the opposition voted in favor of the proposal, the delete from ND K. Bogdanos declared “present” while he did not vote Marietta Giannakou, who is being treated at the hospital.

Of the vote preceded by two fierce confrontations, yesterday and today, of the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the president of SYRIZA but also a pounding of KINAL by the head of his Central Committee, Michalis Katrinis in both the Government and SYRIZA.

K. Mitsotakis: The motion of censure is a motion of despair

THE Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke about a motion of censure– firework, which was dictated to Alexis Tsipras out of despair and political impasses. Deadlocks which he directly connected with the bad poll course of his party, the internal party “storms” but also the “extra-party competition”, as he characteristically said, which he is finally facing due to the changes in KINAL-PASOK.

The Prime Minister made an extensive reference to all the axes of the government work of these 2.5 years, about which he said: It is true that all our actions took place in conditions of unprecedented crises without a recent historical precedent. “I am referring to the worst global pandemic, the secondary crisis in the energy market, extreme weather events, earthquakes, heat waves and fires, the hybrid attack that our country received in Evros and the events in the eastern Mediterranean,” Mitsokas said. .

He even chose a phrase from Lenin in support of what he said: that there are years when nothing happens and weeks that take years. “We can say that we managed to get through these storms with the fewest losses,” said Mr. Mitsotakis.

His criticism of the prime minister did not go unnoticed by the Movement for Change, which called for alignment behind SYRIZA in the motion of censure, although, as he said, he had other options, without having to support the government. His report on Nikos Androulakis was also caustic:

“You will not be able to stay on the balcony for long, with your boss giving cunning interviews.”

A. Tsipras: You have finished politically, you have failed

Severe attack on personnel to Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Government was fired by Alexis Tsipras from the floor of Parliament, again calling on the Prime Minister to resign because he has entered a “slippery road”, he has “finished politically” because he failed.

At the same time, however, the president of SYRIZA called on the progressive forces to join his party and the demand for elections here and now, leaving tips for KINAL, without naming it: Some, he said, are trying to escape the dilemma of the elections. but they will not be able to for long.

Elsewhere, referring to the prime minister and his government, Alexis Tsipras spoke of failure in all fields, described the staff state as a “joke”, launched a counterattack on Mati, accusing the ND of turning a collective trauma into ” electoral step “while he also referred to the dead from the pandemic, asking Mr. Mitsotakis to apologize 23,275.

The report was also extensive with questions to the Prime Minister about the case of M. Fourthiotis’s contacts with G. Gerapetritis and other Government officials: “Do you know who rules this country? Do you or the Fourthiotis rule?”.

Michalis Katrinis: Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Tsipras do not play alone

A loud “present” from KINAL uttered the head of the party’s parliamentary group, Michalis Katrinis, who explained that his party votes in favor of the motion of censure because it condemns the government, but says “no” to petty partisan games.

“The Movement for Change is here. Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Tsipras do not play alone. We vote in favor of the motion of censure with responsibility and consistency. But we say no to petty partisan games,” said Mr. Katrinis, explaining that the elections will society imposes them: “We are ready but we will not imitate either Mr. Mitsotakis who called for elections for three years or Mr. Tsipras who does the same thing every day,” said Mr. Katrinis.
