A young lady met a tragic death from shark attack in the city of Perth, Western Australia, after jumping from the jet ski her to see up close a family of dolphins, according to a police statement.
The 16-year-old was pulled from the Swan River with serious injuries. Emergency personnel treated her but did not survive her injuries, Deputy Superintendent of Police Paul Robinson said, reports the TheGuardian.
“The family wasn’t there when it happened, however her friends were and as you can imagine this is an extremely traumatic incident for any witness so obviously we are offering toconsulting services to anyone affected by the incident,” the Police said.
The Ministry of Fisheries spoke of one unusual occurrence, as hardly one shark it is so close to the river, which flows through Perth into the Indian Ocean. “I spoke to the fisheries police and unfortunately we have no idea what kind of shark it is,” Robinson said.
