17-year-old Brazilian wins Fritz Kreisler International Violin Award

At 17, the Brazilian Guido Felipe Sant’Anna won the 2022 edition of the Fritz Kreisler International Violin Award, held on Sunday (25), in Austria.

Guido competed with the Israeli Michael Shaham and the Japanese Rino Yoshimoto and won with a presentation of the “Concerto for Violin in D Major, op. 77”, composed of Johannes Brahms .

With first place, the young Brazilian will be awarded:

  • Concerts with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra;
  • Participation in the 2022/2023 season of the Nizhny Novgorod State Philharmonic Society;
  • Concerts at the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra in Palermo, Italy;
  • Asia tour offered by World Culture Networks (WCN).

In addition, the winner will be able to record a CD with NAXOS — the world’s leading classical music label.

Guido Sant’Anna started to practice the violin at the age of 5. Two years later, he debuted in a solo concert with a chamber orchestra.

At the age of 12, in April 2018, he achieved a historic feat: he was the first Brazilian or South American invited to the Menuhin Competition in Geneva. On the occasion, Guido took home the sixth prize, the audience award and the chamber music award.
