2.5% inflation would not be extraordinary – Charles Evans

The President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Charles Evanssaid Thursday that they need to increase inflation to meet the target of the Federal Reserve, Reuters reported.

“Inflation is low, lower than we would like,” Evans added.

“An inflation of 2.5% would not be extraordinary, there are a variety of inflationary results that are consistent with the objective of the Fed.”

Market reaction

These comments do not appear to have a significant impact on the performance of the dollar against its rivals. At the time of writing, the US dollar index it was up 0.35% on the day at 92.85.
