A two-year-old boy choked on popcorn this Saturday morning (21), in Rio de Janeiro . He was rescued by military police officers from the Special Rondas and Crowd Control Battalion (Recom) and is doing well.
According to the child’s mother, the boy was with her in the car during a trip. The child began to choke as they passed Avenida Brasil, near Parada de Lucas.
According to Military Police the boy was unconscious, on his mother’s lap, who was screaming for help. Police officers passing through the region noticed strange movement on the road.
One of the police officers performed the “Heimlich” maneuver, while the other team members provided emotional support to the child’s mother.
Minutes after beginning the care work, the police managed to clear the boy’s airways, who regained consciousness shortly after expelling a piece of popcorn.
Mother and son were taken to the Getúlio Vargas State Hospital in the Penha neighborhood, where the little one received medical care. The child is doing well and is not at risk of death.
“I had no reaction to save him. Thank God, God sent me these people to help me and help him. God is very good”, said the mother, thanking the military police officers and the team at the Getúlio Vargas State Hospital.
