Mirella Pinho was transferred to Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital, underwent surgery and is in serious but stable.
According to information from the Military Police, police officers of the 3rd BPM were called to verify the victim’s entry into the hospital unit.
The mother of the child reported to the police that the incident occurred while in a bus on Avenida João Ribeiro.
The Military Police confirmed that there was no police operation in progress in the region at the time of the shooting.
The case is being investigated by the 23rd DP (Méier).
According to the Fogo Cruzado Institute, the event marks the first case of a child shot in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro in 2025.
