Supply chain sources confirm that BOE has purchased dedicated equipment to produce OLED panels for iPhone 13 smartphones. The 6th generation BOE production line is expected to be able to supply 20 million OLED panels for iPhone 13 this year.
Earlier it was reported that this year Samsung will remain the main supplier of screens for the iPhone, but the company’s share will decline to 65.1%. At the same time, LG Display will receive 29.6% of orders for OLED screens for iPhones, and BOE will fulfill 5.3% of orders. Back in April, Apple was expected to order a total of 169 million OLED panels for its new iPhones, 110 million of which will be supplied by Samsung, with LG and BOE shipping 50 and 9 million screens, respectively. Now the volume of shipments of BOE screens, according to new data, has been more than doubled.
It is not yet known whether BOE will trust the supply of LTPO OLED panels, which are intended for the older iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max models. Initially, it was reported that only Samsung will supply such screens.
The presentation of the iPhone 13 is expected in September this year.
