20 Miss Universe that show us how beauty standards have changed over time

The Miss Universe pageant began in 1952 as a marketing campaign created by the Pacific Knitting Mills brand after the Miss America winner refused to wear her bathing suits. Although only 30 contestants competed for the crown, the famous competition became one of the most popular around the world.

Most interesting of all is that, with more than 65 winners throughout its history, each Miss Universe has managed to reflect the type of beauty and standards that have been handled in the legendary pageant over time. These 20 winners of the coveted crown show how fashion, style and beauty have changed from year to year.
