On August 1, a law came into force in Russia, according to which two dozen TV channels must broadcast free of charge via the Internet.
The State Duma approved the final version of the law in June, then it was approved by the Federation Council and signed by the President of Russia. According to the adopted version, users should get free access to key television channels on the Internet. Moreover, the broadcast should be carried out unchanged, and the content should be free.
It is planned to create a single platform for these TV channels, Roskomnadzor and representatives of TV channels must decide on it by October 1. A Russian legal entity with no more than 20% of foreign investments in the authorized capital may be responsible for the site.
Key TV channels include Channel One, Russia 1, Match TV, NTV, Channel Five, Russia 24, Russia K (Culture), Karusel, OTR, TVCenter , REN TV, Spas, STS, Domashny, TV-3, Friday, Zvezda, MIR, TNT, Muz-TV.
