20-year-old Ohio woman gets 15 years in prison for killing her boyfriend and a friend by crashing her car into a wall

20-year-old Mackenzie Cirilla broke down in tears as the court handed down the 15-year sentence she had been given for murder of boyfriend Dominic Russo, 20, and boyfriend Davion Flanagan, 19, last year in Ohio. According to what was accepted by the court, the 20-year-old deliberately drove her car into a wall at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour in order to kill her boyfriend and his friend.

The judge told Shirilla that the most aggravating evidence against her was the “chilling and tragic” security camera footage of her speeding into the wall, reports Daily Mail.

“He had a mission, and he executed it with precision. Her mission was death,” said Judge Nancy Margaret Russo when announcing Cirilla’s guilty verdict a few days ago. “Her actions were controlled, methodical and deliberate. This is not an incident of careless driving. This is murder“, he said characteristically.

The convicted as murderer did not speak at all during the trial.

Shortly before the announcement of her sentence and while the verdict for her conviction was a fact, she addressed the families of the victims saying: “I am deeply sorry. I hope one day you will understand that I would never let something like this happen or do it on purpose. I wish I could remember what happened,” she said through tears. “We were all friends and Dom was my soul mate,” the defendant said and addressing her own family, she said: I wish I could take all the pain away. I thank my family for the support and love you give me. I love you all so much.

The 20-year-old burst into sobs immediately after her sentence was pronounced.

Judge Russo, yesterday, Monday, the day of sentencing, said the most important evidence against Cirilla was the “chilling and tragic” footage from security cameras, which showed her speeding up to crash her Toyota Camry into the wall of a shopping mall building.

“This is the kind of evidence you can never forget,” Russo said. He further said that Shirilla, who was 17 years old at the time accident“it was literally hell on wheels.”

“The victims experienced absolute terror”

In addition, Russo said the two men in the car experienced absolute terror as it drove them to their deaths. “There can be no doubt about the utter terror of the two people in that car,” he said. “It was not reckless driving. That was murder.”

The defendant herself is responsible for the accident

Cirila herself claims that the conflict was a tragedy accident, about which she is also devastated. Cirilla’s lawyers had argued that the two friends’ deaths were an accident.
