Experts from the analytical company IC Insights have prepared a forecast related to the market for contract manufacturing of semiconductor products. According to them, after a 2% contraction in 2019, the said market showed a strong rebound of 21% in 2020. In 2021, growth continued and even accelerated, reaching 26%. Growth of 20% is projected for 2022. If IC Insights forecast for the current year holds up, the 2020-2022 period will be the strongest three-year growth period since 2002-2004.
Until 2019, the market last contracted in 2009. Then the reduction was 11%. IC Insights does not expect another decline in the next five years. It is interesting to note that over the period from 2004 to 2021, the market for purely contract manufacturing of semiconductor products grew almost all the time, and nine years out of this period were marked by growth of 10% or more (in 2004, an increase of 40% was recorded at all, and in 2010 – even by 43%).
