22 deaths: Brazil records the lowest number of deaths from Covid-19 since March 2020

Brazil has recorded 22 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to data released by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conasss), this Sunday (17). This is the lowest number recorded since March 29, 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, when the country also had 22 deaths from the disease.

There were 2,541 new infections on the last day, according to data released this Sunday. With the updated data, the country now has 661,960 deaths and 30,252,618 infections caused by the disease.

The moving average of deaths from Covid-19 is at 100, the peak was recorded on April 12, 2021, with an average of 3,124 deaths every seven days. The moving average of cases — considering the last seven days — is at 14,317. The moving average peak was recorded on February 3, 2021, with 189,526 cases for seven days.

Why some people don’t get infected with the coronavirus

The first theory says that certain people are able to eliminate the new coronavirus. That’s thanks to the neutralizing antibodies and memory T cells they have in their body, the product of having suffered from old colds.

There are four types of coronaviruses that cause 30% of colds in humans.

The second theory says that certain human beings are capable of producing substances within their cells. These are substances that not only destroy the invading virus, but also destroy the infected cell.

Three studies support the first theory, which says that having suffered multiple colds in a lifetime, neutralizing antibodies and memory cells directed against these viruses may cross-protect against the new coronavirus.
