A woman of German and Israeli origin, Shani Louk, kidnapped by men belonging to the radical Islamic group Hamas during the October 7 attack, was found dead, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said.
“We are devastated to share that the body of 23-year-old German-Israeli Shani Louk has been found and identified,” the ministry posted on X, formerly Twitter, this Monday (30).
Louk was at the electronic music festival in southern Israel on October 7 when Hamas breached the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel. They blocked the road to the festival from the north and south, before storming the site on foot. The militants surrounded the crowds on three sides, beginning to attack those attending the festival, forcing them to flee across fields to the east.
More than 260 bodies were found at the festival site, according to the Israeli Zaka rescue service, but based on analysis of the CNN the total death toll could be even higher.
Louk was kidnapped at the festival and “tortured and dragged across Gaza by Hamas terrorists,” the Foreign Ministry statement said, adding that she “experienced unimaginable horrors.”
“May her memory be a blessing,” the statement read.
