A 26-year-old woman was found dead and wrapped in a rug in the bathroom of her own home, in Itaquera, east of São Paulo, on Thursday afternoon (9). According to the police, the main hypothesis is that Damaris Almeida was a victim of feminicide.
Military Police officers found the body around 2pm, already showing signs of decomposition. According to information obtained by CNN neighbors called the police due to the bad smell coming from Damaris’ apartment.
According to the Public Security Secretariat, the victim’s partner, also 26 years old, is being investigated. Jorge Bier Julião has been missing since last Wednesday (8), according to his family’s posts on social media.
In a note, the SSP also reported that the case was registered at the 24th DP of Ponte Rasa.
Tributes on social media
Several of Damaris’ friends and family spoke out on social media and mourned the young woman’s death.
“You will always be remembered fondly, thank you for being part of my life! You were an enlightened person, you take care of everyone in heaven! I love you,” wrote a friend.
“I can’t believe this tragedy happened to you, Damaris! You were very young, you had your life ahead of you, you had dreams to fulfill and plans to make. Rest in peace my love, you will be missed”, lamented another colleague.
