Little Vinícius de Brito Samsel, 3 years old, with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (AME) died last Wednesday (15) while waiting for Zolgensma, the most expensive medicine in the world, used to treat the disease.
The medicine costs about R$ 6 million and was incorporated into the Unified Health System (SUS) last December.
“After winning the right to medication in court since December, the Union resisted a lot in complying with the decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). Yesterday [quarta-feira], the Union made the deposit in a judicial account. Practically on the same day of his departure ”, published on social networks the family lawyer, Graziela Costa Leite.
“Unfortunately, our boy did not resist and left for the arms of God. You fought until the last second child, it all happened so fast that we still can’t believe that you will no longer be among us. How it hurts. Now there is no more suffering, now you can rest. Thank you for all our moments together, how much you taught us, we are very proud of you, our warrior. We will love you forever,” wrote the child’s parents on social media.
The boy had been hospitalized at Santa Casa de Campo Mourão (PR) since Tuesday night (14).
