33.8% increase in turnover in Industry in February

The General Index of Turnover in Industry showed a significant increase of 33.8% in February, compared to the decrease of 3.1% that had occurred in the corresponding period last year.

In detail, the Hellenic Statistical Authority states that it announces the Turnover Index in Industry, with base year 2015 = 100.0 and reference month in February 2022, the development of which, according to provisional data, is as follows:

The General Index of Turnover in Industry (total domestic and foreign market) of February 2022, compared to the corresponding index of February 2021, showed an increase of 33.8% compared to a decrease of 3.1% recorded during the corresponding comparison of 2021 with 2020.

The General Index of Turnover in Industry for the month of February 2022, compared to the corresponding index of January 2022, showed an increase of 14.4%.

The average General Index of the twelve months March 2021 – February 2022, compared to the corresponding index of the twelve months March 2020 – February 2021, showed an increase of 32.8%, compared to a decrease of 13.3% compared to the previous twelve months.

I. Comparison of General Turnover Index in Industry, month February 2022, with the corresponding index February 2021

The increase of the General Turnover Index in Industry by 33.8% in the month of February 2022, compared to the corresponding index of February 2021, came from:

1. From the changes of the indices of the sub-sectors of the industry:

– Increase by 34.0% of the Manufacturing Turnover Index. The increase in the indicators of the double-digit sectors contributed mainly to this increase: production of basic metals, production of coke and oil refining products, production of chemicals and products, production of rubber products and plastics.

– Increase by 20.5% of the Turnover Index of Mines – Quarries. This increase was mainly due to the changes in the indicators of the double-digit sectors: mining of other ores, other mines and quarries.

2. From the changes in the indices of the individual markets:

– Increase by 37.8% of the Domestic Market Turnover Index

– Increase by 27.7% of the Foreign Market Turnover Index

II. Comparison of Domestic Market Turnover Index, February 2022, with the corresponding index of February 2021

The increase of the Domestic Market Turnover Index by 37.8% in February 2022, compared to the corresponding index of February 2021, came from the following changes in the indices of the individual industry sectors.

– Increase by 37.9% of the Manufacturing Turnover Index. The increase in the indicators of the double-digit sectors mainly contributed to this increase: production of basic metals, production of coke and oil refining products, production of other non-metallic mineral products, production of rubber products and plastics.

– Increase by 15.7% of the Turnover Index of Mines – Quarries. This increase was mainly due to the changes in the indicators of the double-digit sectors: other mines and quarries, coal and lignite mining –
crude oil and natural gas extraction – mining support activities.

III. Comparison of External Market Turnover Index, February 2022, with the corresponding index of February 2021

The increase of the General Index of External Market Turnover by 27.7% in the month of February 2022, compared to the corresponding index of February 2021, came from:

1. From the changes of the indices of the sub-sectors of the industry:

– Increase by 27.7% of the Manufacturing Turnover Index. The changes in the indicators of the double-digit sectors contributed mainly to this increase: production of basic metals, production of chemicals and products, manufacture of electrical equipment, production of coke and oil refining products.

– Increase by 24.5% of the Turnover Index of Mines – Quarries. This increase was due to changes in the indicators of the double-digit sectors: mining, other mines and quarries.

2. From the changes in the indices of the individual markets:

– Increase by 32.9% of the Eurozone External Market Turnover Index

– Increase by 24.5% of the External Market Turnover Index outside the Eurozone

IV. Comparison of General Turnover Index in Industry, February 2022, with the corresponding index January 2022

The increase of the General Index of Turnover in Industry by 14.4% in February 2022, compared to the corresponding index of January 2022, came from:

1. From the changes of the indices of the sub-sectors of the industry:

– Increase by 31.9% of the Turnover Index of Mines – Quarries.

– Increase by 14.3% of the Manufacturing Turnover Index.

2. From the changes in the indices of the individual markets:

– Increase by 21.4% of the Domestic Market Turnover Index

– Increase by 4.3% of the Foreign Market Turnover Index
