Digital influencer Aline Maria Ferreira, 33, died last Tuesday (2) after undergoing an aesthetic procedure on her buttocks at a clinic in Goiânia (GO).
A death notice was posted on Aline’s Instagram profile, where she had more than 40,000 followers. In the post, her husband commented: “Thank you for every second by your side, my love. I will love you forever.”
The cosmetic procedure would have involved the application of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) to the buttocks. Aline underwent the procedure on June 23 and, on the same day, returned from Goiânia to Brasília (DF), where she lived, but began to feel unwell.
The Civil Police are investigating the case and should provide more information. The State Department for the Repression of Crimes Against Consumers in Goiânia called a press conference this Thursday (4) to explain the complications that occurred after the surgery.
Aline had been hospitalized in the ICU since June 29. The cause of death has not yet been released.
The procedure
PMMA is a filler material approved only for minimally invasive procedures on facial tissue. It is among the most frequently used substances for aesthetic purposes. However, because it is permanent, it can cause complications.
Injection of a large volume of PMMA can lead to the development of severe hypercalcemia and chronic lesions, which are often underestimated.
In these cases, hypercalcemia occurs due to a granulomatous reaction, which is the body’s response to a foreign body.
Who was Aline Ferreira
Aline Ferreira was born on September 11, 1990, and was a mother of two children. Her eldest son, aged 19, serves in the Army. She had been married since September 2021.
The influencer had almost 44 thousand followers on Instagram and presented herself as a photo model. In her bio, she stated that her content was about “looks, lifestyle and daily tips”.
In at least three posts, Aline mentioned aesthetic procedures she had already undergone before applying PMMA to her buttocks.
The wake will take place on Thursday (4), from 9 am to 11 am, at the Ecumenical Temple of the Gama Cemetery – DF.
