The Sony A7 IV features a 5-axis stabilization system with 5.5 exposure stops. The camera supports SDXC UHS II and CFexpress Type A cards. Interestingly, the autonomy, measured according to the CIPA method, is even worse than that of the A7 III: 610 shots versus 700 shots.
Sony A7 IV received a new 33-megapixel image sensor. The continuous shooting speed has not changed compared to the A7 III at 10 fps regardless of the type of shutter. At the heart of the camera is the Bionz R image processor with 759 phase-detection AF points and 94 percent sensor coverage.
If the Alpha A7 III captures 4K video at 30 fps and 8-bit color representation, then the Alpha A7 IV is much better in this regard – it shoots 4K video at 60 fps and 10-bit color representation. That is, at the level of Canon EOS R6 and Panasonic GH5 II.
Autofocus new items provide faster and more accurate tracking of the subject. In addition, Alpha A7 IV allows you to follow not only the eyes of people, but also animals and birds.
What about heating? Sony claims the Alpha A7 IV can record 4K 60fps 10-bit 4: 2: 2 video for an hour. In comparison, the Canon EOS R6 takes time to cool down after 40 minutes of 4K 30fps video recording. The Sony Alpha A7 IV is priced at $ 2,600, £ 2,400 or AU $ 4,300 (depending on the country).
