The professional wrestler of Ring of Honor, Jay Briscoe was killed in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware on Tuesday night. THE death it came from him when his car collided with another vehicle while he was “driving home after cheerleading competitions”, while his young daughter is also in “critical condition”, reports the Daily mail. AEW owner Tony Khan announced the tragic news on Twitter on Tuesday, writing: “Unfortunately, Jamin Pugh has passed away,” using the wrestler’s real name.

“Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a mainstay in ROH fora more than 20 years, from the first show till now,” said Khan. “Jey and his brother Mark dominated ROH, as champions until today. We will do everything we can to support his family. Rest in Peace Jamin.”

The news was confirmed by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, who said the accident occurred at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Meltzer reported that “two children were taken to hospital” after the accident and that his brother Mark Briscoe, “wasn’t in the car with him.”

CBS affiliate WBOC said that “due to the tragic incident, schools are being closed on Wednesday, January 18” and that “schools will reopen on Thursday, January 19″.
