The São Paulo Criminalistics Institute carried out a 3D expert analysis to recreate in virtual format the accident of death of a Palmeiras fan hit by a bottle near Allianz Parque, in July 2023.
According to experts, the result of the 3D analysis reinforced the possibility that Flamengo fan, Jonathan Messias Santos, had thrown the object that hit Gabriella Anelli.
To recreate and carry out the investigation, notes were taken, photographs were taken with conventional cameras, aerial photographs with a drone and a scan of the location was made using a laser device. The analysis of videos taken on cell phones of witnesses present at the time of the events also provided support.
The team analyzed the original video and watched the material several times at three different speeds and fragmented into frames. According to the report, it was possible to see the “object being launched by Jonathan Messias Santos da Silva”, says the document.
The expert concluded that the images in the video and the frames “support the possibility already mentioned in a previous report” that Jonathan had thrown the bottle that injured a fan and caused Gabriella's death, due to a cut in the neck region.
Also according to the report, “Jonathan Messias Santos da Silva was in an environment conducive to viewing several people in front of him, whether on the side of the Flamengo fans or on the side of the Palmeiras fans. These people were Metropolitan Civil Guards, an inspector and fans from Palmeiras”.

The document also says that:
– “The launch of the object was carried out towards the opening of the metal sheets even though there were conditions for viewing the Metropolitan Civil Guards and other people in the midst of the trajectory that it would develop”;
– “The gate gap was approximately 0.70 meters and it was approximately 3.15 meters away from Jonathan at the time of the bottle throw.”
The expert analysis must still be compared with other interpretations, such as the report from the Legal Medical Institute (IML) and data captured by the police investigation.
In a statement, Jonathan Messias Santos' defense says that the client is innocent and that “the criminal case is in the final arguments phase, without any definitive decision yet”.
