4 Restaurants: thank goodness there is Alessandro Borghese

The ceremonial always follows the same constants: the van with tinted windows, the hoods to be inspected, the smile under the mustache at the moment of confrontation and the poisoned darts launched by the competitors at every lunch and every dinner organized to try to take home the victory. 4 Restaurants remains the same as always, and this is its strong point: that of not being contaminated and of having decided to leave intact its evergreen formula identifiable with its inimitable host, the one we see on Tv8 so many times during the day that we ask him, talking on the TV, if our pasta with tuna either from scratch or from “die”: Alessandro Borghese. And he 4 Restaurants, and he is always the deux ex machina who moves the threads of a show which, while repeating itself always the same, is always different.

The new edition of the program, produced as always by Banijay Italia e broadcast on Sky starting from 5 December, proved it to us: in the midst of the evocative setting of Trentino, Borghese moves together with eco-green restaurateurs with the ease and light spirit that has always distinguished him. Abandoned the sharp notes he had in the first editions – reviewing those episodes makes us understand how much his approach has changed over the years -, Borghese enjoys the show from the sidelines, intervening enough and grinning when the competitors give them a good reason to take revenge for the meticulousness previously highlighted by the opponents. “You did it all”, he repeats at the moment of confrontation knowing that the most succulent ingredient of 4 Restaurants which, useless to go around it, becomes more interesting especially when the most obtuse and poisoned restaurateurs participate.

In the first episode of the new edition, for example, Alessandra, known as La Mora, was the master, who did not spare notes and underlining from the competitors – also questioning the good faith of Alessio’s explanations – frowning when the restaurateurs reciprocated the visit to his restaurant with his own currency. 4 Restaurants, however, it is also beautiful for humanity and the passion that restaurateurs transmit in their work: like Giada who, tormented by the hairs found in Giada’s plate, weeps not so much for her as for the value of her team in the kitchen. The appointments for this new edition are different (we will see the Volpicella, the island of Pantelleria, Siena, Asti, the Barbagia) and we can’t wait to immerse ourselves in these new gastronomic journeys, keeping, however, a doubt: it is possible that after all these editions do viewers know better than restaurateurs that ladles and knives should not be in plain sight in the kitchen but conveniently placed in the drawers? Is it possible that we have to explain everything to you?
