A 4-year-old asthmatic girl was left inside a school van for three and a half hours in the city of São Bernardo do Campo, in São Paulo. The case occurred last Friday (28th) and, according to relatives, she is doing well and returned to school this Tuesday (1st).
The girl should have been dropped off at the Cecília Meireles Municipal School of Basic Education by Priscila Zuim, responsible for the “Van da Tia Pri” transport service, but she spent the whole afternoon inside the vehicle, which was only noticed at the end of the shift, when the father found the child.
Zuim would have called the girl’s mother around 4:30 pm, asking where she was and informing her that he would go to her to deliver the girl to her care. The mother found the situation strange because the arrangement that day was for the child’s father to pick her up from school.
“I thought it strange that she was with my daughter. I called my husband to let him know that I no longer needed to stop by the school, but he said he was already there”, she commented. The father asked a choice employee about his daughter and was informed that she had not been seen at the site that day. “So he went to the van and they handed our daughter over to him,” the mother continued.
The man received the girl very sweaty and complaining that he was hungry. When asked if she had not eaten, the girl revealed that she had not left the vehicle at any time.

The child’s parents filed a police report against the driver of the vehicle. The city hall of São Bernardo do Campo informed that, despite Zuim being accredited by the Department of Transport and Public Roads to provide the transport service and working in the region for ten years, Zuim had the service provision contract suspended after the case.
CNN contacted Priscila Zuim, who said she will not comment on the situation.
